Our server (Sylvia) managed to bring the wrong order to two of us (at a table of four). She also forgot to return with my drink refill ...which was upsetting because I'm sort of obsessed with Coca-Cola. She blamed her mistakes on the kitchen staff and said it's been a long day for them. It seemed like the wait staff was focused on closing and getting home early instead of serving customers (it was an hour and a half before closing time and the restaurant was not busy at all). Sylvia was our second server (our first server seemed to be new and couldn't answer a question about the menu regarding the fish being deep friend or baked so she grabbed Sylvia for us). The food wasn't bad; however, it definitely wasn't fresh and we didn't leave happy or energized. Wasn't the 50's/60's experience we expected at all. Also - there was no music. Won't be returning to Wimpy's Diner in Guelph.
I've been ordering from Wimpy's since I was little and the service has always been nice, prompt, and the food quantity/quality has never failed expectations. The price is what you would expect. The options span the spectrum from meat lovers to vegetarian with a lot to chose from in each section. It definitely doesn't stand out as "wow so amazing!", but it's a regular visit for me, and I'm always pleased. I would recommend this restaurant to anyone for breakfast, lunch, and dinner.
