Diana Downtown

After swearing off this place years ago, thought I should set aside my bias as dated and try it again. Dropped in with a new girlfriend and were basically disappointed in the food served. Again. The bill for extremely rubbery calamari (with just a soupcon of freezer burn) plated with two not quiet suitable, very non-seafood-related dipping sauces, two lonely small somosas with a tiny eggcup of sauce, a tumbler (!?) of very thin tasting chardonnay and a pint of local ale came to an outrageous $35.00!! Ridiculous!! Service was polite if rushed a little, well they were suddenly very busy... entertainment great, decor impressive. But the kitchen in this joint always seems to be the let down. Will not be returning.

Our experience at Diana's restaurant was fabulous. The Christmas decorations where tastefully done, and the staff where very kind and courteous. The food was brought to the table piping hot, and was defiantly a taste of India. Will make it a weekly treat out for sure. Well done.

I usually don't write reviews but I thought I would express my thoughts on a recent visit to Diana Downtown in Guelph. My wife and I usually go for lunch at least twice a month and order their "Indian Thali". The food is acceptable, but the service we received wasn't as expected. My wife is a vegetarian and ordered spinach and panner, but was served spinach and beef instead(honest mistake). It seemed however they just took the beef portion off and replaced it with the veggie portion as you can see the remnants of the old dish still in place. When it came time to get our bill we were charged for two meat dishes, my wife asked about it and the server stated it was the same price as the veggie dish. When i came home I checked the menu and noticed the veggie dish is actually $1 less. I hate to complain over one dollar, as I have spent hundreds at this establishment but this really put a sour taste in my mouth. I may continue to visit, but will definitely see this place in a different light.

I always have a great experience at Dianas..I work upstairs and live down the street so I am there often! Derek the Manager is a fantastic, courteous and professional server who remembers the little details on how we prefer to dine, and it makes all the difference. Their curries, daal, and lunch menu is always great. I have noticed a great improvement since it changed hands a few months ago...It's a great place to curl up on a cold winter day and watch the snow with a nice glass of wine and some tasty curry...Thanks Dianas!!!

Just had a fabulous dining experience at Diana Downtown. Decor, ambiance and service were all excellent and the food was sublime!!! Had the Indian Sampler for appy and the Lamb Vindaloo as my main and it was incredible. My wife and I can't wait for the next time we can get a sitter and come back to try other options on the menu!!!
