Tanpopo Noodle Shop

I absolutely LOVED their Udon. My wife had the Tofu and Shiitake mushroom Udon and I had their Nabe Udon. Their Dashi turned Udon broth had great depth and not too much bonito flake. The Nabe had a few nice hunks of chicken, some great tamago cake, legit fish cake pieces and an awesome tempura shrimp to boot. It really took me back to Japan. Truly amazing. I don't have a single negative thing to say about their noodles. I was however a little disappointed with side items. They do a few rolls each night. Had the spicy tuna (that and a California were the only choice) and it was loose and not to much it as a 6 piece roll. Didn't taste bad, but forgettable. We also got the Karaage. Japanese Fried Chicken is arguably the BEST fried chicken in the world. Marinated in ginger, garlic, soy and sake, then breaded with potato starch and fried. Their version tasted alright, but it was like half a thigh breaded whole, flash fried and cut into thin slices. Not so great and certainly no worth $8. So- they call themselves a noodle shop and that's what they are. It was such a treat and I will be back...OFTEN. I might steer clear of some of the apps though. Based on my Udon I would imagine their tempura is amazing as well. You need to go here!
Tanpopo is perfect and beautiful. I always leave feeling more serene, closer to satori than when I arrived. It nourishes.
One of my favorite restaurants in the Twin Cities. An excellent place to take a group of friends when you have some vegetarians and some meat eaters. The beef udon is to do die for, and the kimchi is fabulous. They always have a great rotating selection of desserts, and the tea is delicious. Mm!
This is the best Japanese restaurant in the Twin Cities area. It is hard to get this kind of quality food even in Japan.
The perfect place for carnivores and vegetarians alike, perfect for those hard to find lunch spaces for a varied group of friends or coworkers.
