Myth the Nightclub
Reviews
Reading these reviews scared me, but I went for my first time to see Black Veil Brides. Amazing! The bouncers weren't as bad (at least not to me nor my aunt). They were actually flirting, and one of them even gave me a free poster! Another was kinda annoying tho, he kept taking the thrown guitar picks and pocketing them. Ash threw me a pick and when i missed it, the bouncer just picked it up, looked at me and put it in his pocket. Lucky for me Ash saw my failed attempts to catch one (like 5 times) and got closer to me and threw it so i could get one. (It's hello kitty with an I love Ash shirt on and his signature XD) I had an amazing experience !
Horrible, just horrible. There was absolutely no crowd control outside of the venue, so everyone mobbed to the doors and barricades were toppled over with people being totally crushed. I have never been to a venue where there hasn't been security directing people before entering the building. Despite the show I went to not being sold out, everyone was packed in so tightly that my friend and I left our prime spots because we could not breathe at all. When I approached a security guy and told him that there were people experiencing panic attacks who needed help up front, he loudly brushed me off and said they had a man up there already (which was not true, I had just left the third row and there was no staff in sight.) In fact during the show, they had multiple security guards blocking off the entrance to their VIP balcony and only one guy passing out cups of water for people to share and pulling people out by the barricade. I've been to many general admission shows and never have I seen someone being pulled out whereas here there were at least 20 people that fainted and another 20 who had to be pulled out because they were not doing well. I'm honestly so disappointed in Myth, not only does the location absolutely suck, but their general apathy and lack of management to keep people safe was just appalling. If you're a manager looking to book a band for this venue, please don't. First Avenue, The Varsity, Skyway, Roy Wilkins, or State Theatre would be a much better choice. In fact, anywhere would be better than Myth.
This is my favorite concert venue in the Twin Cities area. It's clean and safe. It has the feel of an intimate venue (you are near the stage anywhere you stand) but also is big enough to really get crazy, especially at sold out shows. I've seen Chevelle, Rise Against and Bring Me the Horizon here in the past year. I'm going to Limp Bizkit tonight and I'll certainly return as often as I can afford for more shows. I love this place.
I travelled to the Myth from Des Moines, Iowa for the 2-10-15 Bush concert. The bathroom walls are LINED with hand dryers, but they every single one turned off, and a girl standing by the door handing out paper towels for tips.
The music was great. The drinks overpriced, which is to be expected. The bartender we had for the night was extremely unfriendly and communicated mostly by nodding and shaking his head. (Once you open a tab you have to use the same bar tender - so chose carefully.) The kicker: the bartender charged my debit card 4 times - all for different amounts and none of them for the correct amount resulting in a $94 over-charge. Man I wish I could undo my $7 tip.
