I had breakfast at the Heartland Café with my son, his friend and my mother in law. We stopped there Sunday morning, Jan. 4th, before heading back to MN after visiting my son at college. It was a perfect place. It suited all of our needs, a 20 and 21 year old, me a 49 year old and a 75 year old. My mother in law is more WI farm raised and me with more vegetarian tastes. She said the bacon was excellent and I loved the vegetarian chili...yes for breakfast. Not to mention the fresh cornbread with honey. A home y atmosphere, in a nice little neighborhood. My son raves about the poetry slams there. I'll have to come back and check out the night life. Great service, nice staff!!!! Laura K.
Cozy sit down. Every staff member I've interacted with is polite and kind. Great vegetarian and vegan options. Vegetarian chilli is delicious.
Just moved to the Roger Park area and tons of people told us to check this place out. The food was delicious (try the bacon pie) and the service was fast and friendly. So far we've only had breakfast but I can only assume that the lunch menu is just as good. It also has a bar and a fresh market store inside. Definitely making this a regular spot.
Wonderful healthy food, extensive menu, indoor and outdoor seating, friendly, attentive staff. At night the bar becomes a happening hang-out spot with live music and games.
I'm going to miss this place when I leave! Always awesome breakfast food. Drinks are always great too. One of my favorite mojitos I've had in awhile. A little pricey, but delicious. Love the outdoor patio!
