Haymarket Pub & Brewery

Came for the tour and beer, stayed for the food. I was skeptical, as a friend recommended a place across the street for lunch. As well, I don't usually write reviews, so this place had to stand out for me. A place with good food can serve crappy beer and do just fine. But, a place with good beer won't survive without good food. I was absolutely blown away with Haymarket's food. We had a large group that sampled the menu thoroughly. I had the Diner-Style Brined Burger, with a side of fries and ranch dressing. The burger was nuts. The olive mayo was crazy unique, the pretzel bun was perfect (they're often too tough and bready), and the burger was flavorful and juicy. Tried the wings and bleu cheese. I'm a bit of a self-advised buffalo and barbecue sauce connoisseur, this buffalo sauce was hot and very unique. All in all, I was completely caught off guard, and will be back ASAP.

Appetizers and food were decent, your typical bar food standards but a bit pricey. Great selection of beers, and decently priced mixed drinks. Great for groups, but it can get pretty busy during peak night hours. There's a nice back area that's usually reserved for events, so keep up on their calendars as to what's going on.

I did not like beer until I went to here! And now I love it! Well... Certain kinds that is. They offer small tastes of every single beer (on draft) and they are priced well. I was able to try pretty much every type of beer and I discovered that I love stouts and black lagers. The beers on draft change pretty frequently so no matter how many times I go, I can usually try something new. Their food is also great. I love the chicken legs! They are pretty much the same thing as buffalo wings but bigger (and less frustrating). The service has always been great, even late at night when they are busy. Overall a great place to try out if you are looking for a casual but lively night.

The Randolph street corner entrance is bad. The one half way down the street to just the bar is far better. Plenty more seats for people just drinking not eating. Plenty different types of beer to choose.

This place is enormous, with a lively crowd at 11:30 on a Tuesday. I hadn't tried the food; which is disappointing, but also gives me a reason to come back. Servers were really nice and helpful. I was really excited to try the beers brewed in house. I had a pilsner and a wheat beer. Both were pretty good. This is a great spot to come before or after dinner at one of the fancy shmancy restaurants in the hood.
