Real classy place to see a show. The drink selection is pretty good. We sat on the far stage right side but it still sounded great. They had side fills and a bunch of little front fills for those of us that were below the main speakers. Nice touch that shows they care about sound.
I've seen two concerts at city winery and highly enjoyed them both. The band last night didn't seem to be happy with the sound mix but I can't day I noticed any issues. The space is warm and inviting and and felt cozy. I've had two of their house wines and enjoyed both and am also fairly impressed with their beer list. Last night they had an Anderson valley orange gose on that was very good. the food unfortunately is mediocre and overpriced, on the plus side they're in the west loop so go to one if the many other excellent restaurants nearby before hand instead.
We were there for her company Christmas party. So this only concerns having a party there. The service was A-1, everyone had great attitudes and were so happy to do anything for you. We were served wine that was made their, but I did not taste it, I was drinking Vodka martinis all evening, which were made to perfection. I had the lamb chops, which were slightly under cooked, but they took them back and gave me a brand new set of chops which were delicious. All in all we had a very good time.
I hate the way they kick people out for no reason. I've seen it happen a few times. Kinda afraid to laugh and enjoy due to fear of humiliation by bully bouncers. Don't speak with the people next to you, (or should I say sitting on top of you because the seating is so squished) you'll get kicked out for bothering them. Even before the concert starts. The whole staff is rude. Really a shame. Won't be going there anymore.
City Winery has a great space. It's huge and loft style in decor. However, this review is solely on wine as we didn't have food. The wine options were nice, along with the waitstaff. It was nice place to grab a table, chat with friends, and drink wine. However, I only gave 4 stars instead of 5 because there wasn't one wine for under $10.
