Bakehouse on Wentworth

great pies. vegetarian pies are excellent too. never had any issues with service here. always friendly.
We went to the Bakehouse today. First they charged us the eat-in price even though we said we were taking it away. Then after paying for our order, but before giving us the food, they took another customer's order for coffee. How about first in, first served? When we got home we realised they had gotten one of the items wrong. We returned the item later that day for a refund but only after the person said that she wasn't going to argue the refund with us because it was 5 minutes until closing. She said it was dodgy of us to return a broken tart that she now could not sell. Yes, we accidently broke the tart in the bag before getting to our house, but we would have happily eaten it had it been the right tart. Dodgy or not (not dodgy in my opinion), they gave us the wrong tart (and originally over charged us for it). And even if I did return an unbroken tart, they should not be considering re-selling it... how do they know that I didn't lick it or store it at the wrong temperature etc. On the plus side, the correct items they gave us tasted good.
Decided to drop in because a couple of friends recommended it. I was not disappointed. In addition to a variety of breads and cakes/slices, there is also a selection of pies to choose from including beef & guinness to lamb, garlic & rosemary fillings. Pies are fairly large and the pastry is so flaky. A large bakehouse with enough seats to get out of the cold for a while.
I read the other reviews about bad service, but they must have improved. The best pie I have ever had, nicest crust and definitely will be coming back. Staff very friendly. A must do in the blue mountains.
Very rude service, treated very poorly. Wanted to try their pies but was put off by the ill mannered staff. Go elsewhere.
