Hotel Blue & Conference Centre

Very nice 1920s hotel. Food excellent. Staff is very friendly.
What a real gem this place is! We stayed for a 2 night stay & were imediatley impressed with our welcoming greeting, by being given a tour of the hotel & its amenities on arrival. This is a beautiful 1930's style hotel restored to resemble that era in exceptional detail. Our room was a good size, clean, comfortable, & quiet. Nothing was too difficult for the staff, & would often go out of their way to be of help. Their knowledge of the history of the building is exceptional. I will be telling all my friends when in Katoomba, this is a great place to stay. We will be staying here again. To Chris & your crew, thankyou for making our stay great. Well done! Five stars from us! G.
We booked one night at the Hotel Blue as a last minute gettaway to the katoomba area of the blue mountains, but to be honest wished that we had not. The hotel decor is really outdated, with carpets and wallpaper from the 70s or 80s. In addition there were strong smoke smells permeating the bedrooms from the open log fires that were burning almost continuously during our stay. Wifi access costs 2AUD for 15 minutes of service, and even then it did not work in our room. The showerhead in our room appeared to be very little more than just an open pipe that ejected simultaneous hot and cold streams that were barely mixed (the last time I saw this was in pre-revolutionary prague in 1989). To top our experience off the cooked breakfast the next day was barely edible. The only saving grace is that the hotel is a 5 minute walk from the excellent swiss cottage restaurant on lurline street, but then so are a number of other much nicer places to stay.
I have a vast experience in hotel rooms, this was one I dont want to experience again. OK so if things are old, then they must at least be clean! so dirty I felt sick looking at the terrible stains on the walls, paintwork and ceiling. a good scrub would help, how they charge this price for such a dirty room and sorroundings is amazing. The whole place needs gutting and start again. don't stay here if you want a decent room.
Absolutely fantastic! Wish we could have stayed longer! We stayed in alot of hotels and guest houses including others in Katoomba and surrounds and this was a rare gem to find. From the warm greeting on check in by the staff, to the helpfulness and hospitality shown throughout the stay. Nothing was too much trouble! Old world style of course but that gave it character. Rooms spotless and cosy. Breakfast buffet hot, fresh and delicious. My teenage kids loved the games room ....and I loved the peace and quiet it gave me because they were entertaining themselves as a family playing pool and cards and chess and not one mention of a video game! Open log fireplace was so good on those foggy days and nights.Definitely be back great value for money!! Thany you for a wonderful stay :)
