Bonus points for the selection of coffee beans (Verve and Forty-Ninth Parallel) but minus points for the over-crowded atmosphere. It's a bit of a pretentious "scene". Navigating from the drink counter to a table is tough, as is getting to the bathroom from a table. The chocolate chip cookie was greasy, but admittedly some folks prefer that. No complaints about the coffee drinks themselves. If you just need a solid espresso drink to go and don't mind waiting in line, this place is fine.
Best coffee shop in Pittsburgh: Great atmosphere / location Friendly and personal baristas Great coffee selection (some of my favorite roasters) Espresso, Mochas, drip, and pour overs are all fantastic. I can't comment on the food, never had it. Great prices I go here multiples times per month and have only had good experiences.
The espresso was salty. If you're going to do ristretto pulls, you need a blend/roast to support it. Making good coffee isn't just a matter of the right equipment and following directions. It's an art in every brew and requires constant personal attention — something imported hipster baristas often don't have.
Seems pretty standard as far as "great coffee shops" go. Standard "great coffee shop" staff, menu, and quality. Pretty good, but nothing unique or surprising.
One of the best coffee east of the Rockies. If you're not afraid of hipsters, definitely a place to drink a good espresso. They always improve, now they're offering two different blends of coffee, which is a good way to have variety.
