MoonFish

This restaurant was once one of the staples of Restaurant Row in Dr. Phillips until the invasion of better places in 2008-current. The sushi is great, which is why I still go. I give the food a 4.5 rating. But every time I go they always spill the soy sauce, or spill something, or mess up some part of my order (if I don't order from the sushi bar). I'll say that they have one of the nicest bathrooms I've seen in a restaurant.
This was the second time that I dined at Moon Fish. The food and service was excellent. There seafood was perfect. My guest had steak and said it was very good.
Expensive but good 40 to 55 dollars
We dined at Moonfish last evening after it was recommended by our hotel's concierge. The atmosphere was inviting and superior to most. Our waiter was excellent and friendly and not intrusive and was readily available, also allowing us privacy and not rushing us through our dinner. Unfortunately, when our dinner arrived via the food server, there was a bit of a battle between our waitress and the server as to how to leave the entrée sauce should be served. The food server was rude and our waiter was clearly embarrassed and apologetic when he left. I felt genuinely sorry for her. The manager stopped by twice during our dinner and she was less than friendly. We had the seared tuna shushimi as appetizer and it was perfectly seared and excellent in taste. The coconut shrimp were enormous and we were greatly impressed when they arrived; however, the coconut batter was so thick and half cooked that the shrimp flavor was totally lost in the gummy mess. Worse, yet, we ordered the Halibut entree with roasted vegetable. The vegetables were perfectly grill and had excellent flavor. The halibut was small and over cooked and at 35.00 a plate, this was a disgrace. Really? Consumer beware! This restaurant is billed mostly for their fresh seafood and are, by what I have gathered, have been top rated. I'll give it one more chance in the distant future, but they are several steps below good. I cannot honestly recommend this restaurant to my friends. Value for your money is below standard set for this restaurant.
My wife and I dined there for the first time on Friday, June 21, 2013. Natasia, our waitress, was superior as well as all the other members of the staff who assisted her in serving us. She took the time to explain every aspect of the wines we chose and the food we ordered. She made recommendations that proved to be accurate. The decor was plush. We appreciated when a staff person came to our table and asked, "did you find everything perfect?" We thought her wording was different because she wanted to make sure everything was perfect, not just "Ok." We will come back and we will tell friends to go there too.
