The Walrus and the Carpenter

Amazing selection, super friendly (but not over eager) world-class shucker who was great to talk to as I was solo at the oyster bar. This guy knew his stuff and made my money and dining experience worthwhile. I will highly recommend and send friends here. Great lighting, service, inventive cocktails and wonderful french onion soup (perfect in December) but really the banter at the oyster bar and the oysters they bring in are the keystone.
Had a phenomenal meal here with my boyfriend while visiting Seattle. Everything was perfect. Especially the oysters and tartar. The service was top notch. Recommend reservations as it was extremely busy when we were there. Great spot for a date or an occasion.
Addicted. Constantly changing stock of oysters, delicious and light dishes. Service staff is attentive but stays out of the way and has a ton of personality. Very unique and rare little gem.
I knew this place was expensive, but dang, I wasn't prepared to go bankrupt and NOT be full on top of that. Granted, the fresh oysters were top notch. We split 2 dozen oysters and tried all four kinds ranging from sweet to salty, including the amai (sweet). The menu has changed since I visited, so I can't tell you what the other 3 were. The price of the oysters ranged from $2-$4 a piece. I wasn't satisfied with the quantity of the original order, so I ordered more, not knowing that I chose the most expensive one. Yep, I paid $48 for 12 oysters (on top of the original order). Lovely. (I later had slimy, gigantic gulf oysters in Texas that made me sick for a week, so that goes to show all oysters are NOT the same). We also ordered fried oysters, which are pretty much a personal fave anywhere I go. I wasn't that impressed with the steak tartare, but maybe tartare is just not my thing. I don't know. My group of 6 got there at 3:35, and there was a wait, but at 4:00, the doors opened and we were immediately seated. We were fortunate though because it doesn't seem like a group-friendly setting. The place is tiny! The music was so loud I couldn't hear myself think. Reminds me of being in Abercrombie & Fitch minus the mood lighting.
Really great raw bar: solid oysters, and the cheese dish I tried (Hannah) was also delicious. The beef tartare was quite good, but it didn't quite wow me. The atmosphere is a good one, although it gets quite busy and you'll be sitting right up on other patrons. There was also some confusion on ordering with some minor mix-ups, including the drink order. It's an experience you should try, but for the expected wait time and the price, there are other places I would choose first.
