Liberty

Fun, north Capitol Hill bar fare, with a sushi twist. Their wit on tap was great and the bar tenders and the staff keep the place fun. Their menus are a veritable treat as they have pages for customers to scribble on. And they serve a drink called a flaming dick. Overall, tons of fun and I'd visit this place again.
sushi roll was good but the restaurant doesn't have anything fried. not their fault, the menu is online. service was hit or miss, the host made my birthday party move when a larger birthday party showed up even though I had reservations, but on the bright side a waiter found me a red Bull from a coworkers personal collection and my cocktail was complimentary
Liberty often hosts world renown bartenders - you just tell them what you like and they will surprise you every time. One of my friend recently asked for a gin based drink with egg that was spicy - it was completely amazing. Light and frothy, packed back heat, and gave a good dose of strong earthy gin. Their drinks are strong, the crowd is in their mid 20s to 30s. Great sushi, has a back room for a great private party (hidden behind a door). Great comfortable couches.
Drinks and Dinner ==== I'd love to rate the bar from the restaurant separately since the sushi experience was abysmal. 2 stars = Sushi, 4 stars = drink. I'd recommend the Blackjack Davey cocktail. The sushi unfortunately was ill-prepared - the rice on the maki was the only thing done well, the proportion of fish to rice was very low, the seaweed was a little stale and probably not roasted. How do you serve Omakase and not even offer sashimi? Head there for the drinks and avoid the food.
We were in Seattle for the first time visiting some friends and went to Liberty on a recommendation of good sushi and cocktails. But "good" is an understatement. The chefs at Liberty have a delicious and fresh take on sushi, and the bartenders take a lot of time and care on crafting each drink. The staff was engaging and generous and made you feel like old friends. Would definitely suggest Liberty to anyone looking for exceptional sushi in the Capitol Hill 'hood and look forward to stopping by next time we are in Washington.
