I have been going to this church for 6 1/2 years now, twice a week, so it's obviously a church that *I* feel comfortable at. My heart breaks when I hear other reviewers that say that somebody threw their coats over their (Kelley's family's) seats, and refused to move them, and so Kelley thinks the people who go here are "rude and inconsiderate." I am sorry that this happened to you!!! I would say that any of the people I sit around, if it was brought to my/our attention, we would apologize and quickly move the coats! I think that the leadership staff and pastors and Pastor Ed are great! I think these people are VERY caring and very kind, and very servant-hearted, including the Pastor, there is nothing he won't do to serve the people of this church!! He definitely leads by example! I went to Word of Life for years before coming here, and I must say I think Pastor Bagwell (W.o.L.) expects to be treated better than everyone else, and expects it as a right that people would elevate him because of his position. Pastor Ed Taylor is the total opposite of that! He serves this church every which way you can imagine! He puts a lot of time into his Bible studies, and we go through each book chapter by chapter, verse by verse. And 2 big things stand out: #1. he has taught me how to apply examples in the Bible to my own daily life and experiences, and how the Bible can help me personally, and #2. he has been through the wringer with his son dying and both of his parents in the last few years, and other trials, and his biggest testimony is how he can still smile in spite of it all, because of his Hope in Jesus!! He is a shepherd worth following! He seeks Jesus in everything! One reviewer asked where is the revenue stream here? Well, there is no formal offering, but Pastor and the staff just trust in the Lord to meet the needs of the church and He always comes through when He's in it. Pastor says "where God guides, He provides," so if there is no money, that's not a direction we are going to go. Another review said that there is no visible joy in 99% of the people here. If you look at the Pastoral team and worship team at any given moment, I think most people would find an abundance of joy (*especially* in the face of Ian, the worship Leader, the "guy with the huge gauges" as one reviewer put it), and people who want to serve you and help you in any way you need it. Not all the congregants are happy every day, though, as many of us are carrying heavy burdens, but the Staff here wants to help with that, as they gently remind us that the peace of this world is fleeting, but that the Peace & Joy that comes from Jesus is everlasting and not dependent on our circumstances. I am sorry for people who have had a bad experience here, I hope you will either come back and try this church again, or find a church that you feel comfortable at, and worship the Lord with all your heart, for He is worthy!! God bless!

I have been going to Calvary for just over a year now and I love it! I came from a rigid Baptist Fundamentalist church and this was a breath of fresh air and freedom for me. I see that people have complained about the music there but try spending 17 years singing the same twenty hymns out of the Baptist hymnal over and over again. If you don't like singing the worship songs then just worship the Lord in your heart! I so appreciate Pastor Ed and his commitment in preaching the Word line by line and precept by precept, the whole counsel of God. I hope this never changes.

I love this church! Warm, friendly, inviting. The word of God is preached, and the gospel is shared. Emphasis on Winning people to Jesus, Discipling people in Jesus, Sending people out in Jesus' name.

Calvary chapel may have parking problems and you may not be able to fallow the message but it is an amazing church. I know a lot for great people who help everyone. And maybe the message at the time was a bit hard to understand. I have gone to Calvary for 5 years and it is easy to understand because I ask questions and get involved. Just sitting there does nothing for you if you don't ask good questions. Calvary chapel is a great church some people just don't understand that.
