Pork Store Cafe Valencia
Reviews
Classy wood and leather interior provides a sophisticated, timeless setting for the everyman, diet-be-damned American comfort food served in this restaurant. There's ample seating for large and small groups, with a lovely bar. The honey dipped fried chicken had a satisfying crunchy exterior and juicy interior. The mashed potatoes were creamy. The waitstaff was warm. Bacon lovers will have much in common with the self-professed bacon loving staff here as well.
The breakfast was alright. I ordered the most popular breakfast item bit I don't remember the name. I didn't enjoy the hash brown. It was pretty bad. The service is slow.
With the yummy hollandaise, and awesome hashbrown nests, the nice waiter, and the cozy yet hip ambiance, it would have been five stars... but we found a COCKROACH making itself at home on my husbands shirt just as we were paying the bill, getting ready to head out the door. I grabbed my napkin, pinched the insect off of him, dropped it on the table ...and we high-tailed our asses out of there. Sorry Pork, but roaches draw the line straight to NEVER AGAIN.
Usually go to the Haight location, but last time tried Pork Store in the Mission and it was good too. Can't go wrong with Eggs In A Tasty Nest or any of the scrams.
After a million perfect experiences at the Haight street location, I ventured down to the Mission to get myself a sip at the bloody mary bar, and I was thrilled. They are able to accommodate groups, they have outdoor seating, and did I mention the bloody mary bar?
