On the evening of Oct 21 2014, I proposed to my girlfriend overlooking the bay. After dinner, as we walked back to our hotel we chanced upon the Gold Dust Lounge. The live music was fantastic, the staff was great, it really made our night. What set them apart was we accidentally left a cell phone there with our only proposal photos on it, and after a phone call it was on its way back to us. Usually when you call a bar, everyone is too busy to take your call, but at the GDL, even on the phone they treat you like an old friend. Stop in, you'll be glad you did.
Best bar is Fishermans Wharf. The drinks are cheap and the staff is friendly. It's a pleasant surprise in an otherwise sad neighborhood.
