Kneaders Bakery & Cafe
Reviews
I used to love everything about Kneaders, but today my view has changed. Kneaders use to show their appreciation to veterans with a free meal on Veteran's Day... but I guess times have changed. My wife was told that Kneaders doesn't do that anymore... but gave her no reason as to why. No longer does Kneaders honor the sacrifice of men and women who have fought for freedom. I guess it's just not profitable or not popular or not very important to them anymore.
Okay, I'm not much of a sweets kind of person so I could really care less about the pastries, desserts, etc. I'll tell you this though, the bread (specifically the Asiago, and the Sourdough) is absolutely fantastic! I could eat that all day long. Another favorite of mine is the Tomato Soup. Bundle that with a loaf of their bread and I'm a happy camper.
Kneaders has great food, and there's no denying it. But thats the only reason this gets a 3 star. There Service is slower than HECK! I get one sandwich every time and I've never ordered and been out the door with my food in less than 30 minutes. Its ridiculous. Good food but only eat here if you have lots of waiting time.
The last 2 times we have eaten there have been TERRIBLE! This time I got a "Chopped" chicken salad and it was a head of lettuce, UNCUT or chopped and dirty. 2 small tomatoes and a small handful of chicken that tasted like it was going bad. VERY disappointed.
I've been to Kneaders a few times, and while my first couple visits were great, they've steadily decreased in quality (and increased in price) over their brief existence, culminating in my dismal experience today. I went in for a (late) endless french toast breakfast. I paid and sat down. After twenty or so minutes, I was brought my first plate. They forgot the syrup, so I had to go back and request it specifically. I ate the first plate, and was still hungry, so I waited for the waitress to bring another plate around. After the better part of 15 minutes, I was finally able to get one's attention, but she said that they were currently out and would bring me more when it was ready. Another fifteen minutes passed. Another waitress noticed me sitting there with my empty plate, and offered to bring me some more. When she returned, she said that they were out. Period. No more french toast, please come by some other time. I was (obviously) dismayed that they would take my money for "endless" french toast and then send me away with only one plate(two slices) and an empty stomach. Had I intended to leave still hungry, I could have found a meal for much less than $6, not to mention one that wouldn't waste nearly an hour of my time. The food's good, but the service ain't.
