Grey Goose
Reviews
I try to not put much emotion in my reviews. Here are the facts. 1) On a non-busy Saturday night, we were seated at Grey Goose in Midway. I had my wife and 2 kids. We were with my sister and her husband. 2) We ordered drinks that came out in a timely fashion and pre-ordered the chicken finger and fry appetizer for our kids to share. Those came out in a timely manner as well. 3) We ordered the fried broccoli that came out quickly and was very tasty. 4) My wife ordered the grilled chicken sandwich. I ordered the ribeye medium rare. My sister got a slice of cheese cake. My brother in law ordered 6 buffalo wings. 5) An hour later, we still didn't have our food. People that were seated near us were seated after us, ordered, received a pizza, ate it, and left and we still didn't have any food. 6) After an hour, my brother in law's wings came. They were cold in the middle. My steak came. It was well done rather than medium rare (picture included). My sister's cheese cake came and it was good. 7) 10 minutes later, my wife's grilled chicken sandwich came. It was good. 8) We notified the manager about the situation. There really wasn't much they could do. We have 2 kids who had already eaten. They were ready to go. They said they took the steak off the ticket and discounted our bills by 15%. 9) We had separate checks. While paying, the server switched the credit cards and I ended up getting charged for my sister and brother in law's bill which, lacking the discount, was higher than our bill. Honestly, at that point, $5-$10 isn't going to move my needle so we just paid and left. I did still leave the waitress a $10 tip on a $38 bill. We have had enough people rave about this place that we will probably try it again. Restaurants can't get everything right all the time, but there seemed to be a lack of follow through on this particular visit. The above statements are just the facts regarding our visit on 2/7/15. Do with this what you will.
My lunch today featured the black bean burger with side salad and excellent dressing, so the food was good. However, the server presented a bill of $15.26 and returned with $4 change from my $20 bill. I asked her about the difference. She claimed a poor capacity for counting change. After a complete lunch, I had a hard time swallowing that insulting frog. I later called the manager about it. She said they just round the change to the nearest dollar. I explained that my server rounded up without any explanation to the customer. I realize that servers are poorly paid and deserve a decent tip, however expecting a customer to accept that unexplained behavior or the manager's ho-hum tone reasoning is demeaning to all. Yes, Gray Goose, parts of a dollar still matter as does customer respect.
Had a fish sandwhich. Bread was toasted too much. Fish was yummy and fries were good. Enjoyed the atmosphere.
We love the Grey Goose! It's one of our go-to restaurants. They have fantastic beer on tap and their pizzas are fantastic! The food on the menue - other than the pizzas - are good, and the starters are just so-so. We've also always had really good service, we especially enjoy coming in the summer and sitting on the patio and listening to live music they have on the weekends.
