The Old Stone Church Restaurant
Reviews
Excellent food and service. Bar was fantastic. The food is high quality. The price was a bit high for Castle Rock but well below most restaurants of this quality. The atmosphere is interesting- an old catholic church isn't where you would expect a restaurant. The stone exterior and stained glass windows make this place really stand out. They could make a couple of changes to really dress up the interior- live music ( a guitar player in the bar with the music run to the main restaurant would have been incredible here). Large draperies to cut some of the voices and fresh linens would have really dressed up the interior and bring it up to the level of the food and service. I have dined at some amazing restaurants and this one is on par with the best.
Great mood and generous servings. Menu is not huge but the few options on there are well thought out. A little more expensive than usual but it may be worth it.
Excellent food and service!
Good food, great service, and a destination of a restaurant to boot. The price is definitely higher than other local fare so if you're looking for a cheap dinner, this isn't it. That said, if you're looking for flavors not found elsewhere in the area, you need to check this out. My wife and I are new to Castle Rock and we've frequented the OSC multiple times. My only real complaint: take AMEX. I get why small businesses in the area don't want to pay the higher fees, but for the price point here you shouldn't end my meal on a sour note.
My wife and I tried this restaurant for the first time and we were both very disappointed, especially considering the rave reviews. We sat at the bar and ordered the salmon plate and the we were charged $5 to split the plate which came out to a $27.00 salmon plate. The salmon was overcooked, fishy and for a main course it was a small portion. The risotto was luke warm, gummy and crunchy. I understand al dente but this was ridiculous. It was more like an appetizer than a meal. We also ordered the truffle fries as an appetizer and although they were decent the serving bowl (small) was only filled to three quarters full. Come on, how much can fries cost you??? With our meal we ordered a draft beer apiece and it cost me $60.00 with tip. I really felt cheated when I paid the bill. Never have I paid so much for so little.
