The food is home cooking at its best. The fried chicken is the best I have ever had at a restaurant. The wait staff are pleasant and efficient. The bartenders are unfriendly, however. When a person in our party complained about a cocktail she had received, the bartender marched to our table. He said there was nothing wrong with the drink he had made and rudely offered to reshake it not remake it.. He embarrassed my friend and our server. We were pretty taken aback.

I'm not familiar with Castle Rock, but I immediately chose this place for lunch when I saw that fried chicken was their specialty. I was disappointed to find out they only serve fried chicken at dinner, not lunch. I ordered a burger and onion rings instead. It was a great burger, way, way better than Red Robin. The onion rings were good as well. My server was friendly when she took my order, but then I never saw her again. She scooted past my table six times that I counted with no intention of filling my drink, or even checking on anything. I decided to try to make eye contact or get her attention... couldnt do it. I was clearly finished eating, but had to ask the hostess what I needed to do to get a little more water and a check. The hostess brought some water, but I waited a few more minutes for a check and decided to leave $11 on the table. As I got up to leave, my server dropped off my check and mumbled something about being really busy. As I walked to my car, she chased me down and said I still owed her 75 cents, no smiles this time. I gave her another dollar. She had no time to give me any customer service, but she had time to chase me down outside. I always tip 25% for decent service and even more for really good service. Her loss, I guess. I have no idea if my experience was an exception, but I can say the food was good.

Love the family style chicken and mashed potatoes, always good eatin.

Great fried chicken and hamburgers. Good cold beer. Relaxing place for dinner, although the service can be hit or miss.

Great atmosphere and wonderful food. If you go , you have to get the pan-fried chicken . It takes 30 minutes , but it's worth the wait !
