Salute e Vita Ristorante
Reviews
I had to meet one of my collegue and one of our clients. My Colleague lives in the area and suggested we meet at Salute since she lives in the area. I am African American and my Colleague is White. Our client is also African American. When we arrived we were immediately seated, however, we noticed that the waitress was a bit rude and disrespectful. She did NOT ask us what we would like to drink, instead we sat there for an extremely long time with nothing more than water. My College is a Doctor and was teaching the entire group about how to order food and not eat it all. Instead pack it up and save it for later to avoid over eating and to assist with weight loss. Everyone at the table ordered all the food they desired, and after taking very tiny bites and pulling away from the food decided to pack it up for later to avoid over eating. When it came time to pay, I pulled out a Corporate Credit/Debit Card and the waitress came back with a suspicious look on her face as though we could not afford the place or that we could not afford to pay and said, "The card was declined. Do you have another card"? Before I could say anything, The waitress said, "oh, you don't have one right now, I will come back". I said, "Yes, hold on I have another card". She said, "No, I can come back".I said "I just told you to hold, on I have another card and that card should be just fine". She then replied "Oh, maybe there isn't enough in the account, do you have another card?".I replied, yes I just told you twice that I have another card, please wait will I get it out of my wallet. I then pulled out a personal debit card & I told her, I am not sure why that card was declined because I have more than enough in that account ". The waitress replied, who knows I ran it and it doesn't work. When she brought our food out she replied, "The guy in the kitchen thought we were going to throw the food away, and when I told him you were going to save it for later, he gave you a little more. Another guy thought this was a take out order". The waitress was totally unaware who I am and that I had just used the card and it worked fine. Just to prove that I was correct, I called the bank to see if the card was working and they confirmed that the card not only works but that there was more than enough in the account to cover any charges. Just as my client stated, this was nothing more than a case of internalized Racism and Classicism. I wouldn't recommend this place to ANYONE in their right mind. No one deserves to get treated as though they are second class citizens and are not worthy of respect. Thus far I have not heard back from the restaurant about the incident, however, I do have a cousin and several relatives that work in television and radio. I will be contacting them as well to speak publicly about this incident to assure that they or their friends EVER eat there again!!
Summary based on 1 lunch: --went here for a holiday work lunch --ok food, but fish soup was lacking flavor --over priced --service just ok. A waiter spilled wine on a guest, not me, and no offer of cleaning allowance. Just comp the meal for the person, at least. --easy parking --nice setting Probably won't return
Had a fantastic business luncheon at Salute Ristorante. I was in the mood for fettucchini alfredo with shrimp which was not on the menu but the chef did an amazing job. Highly recommended.
