Totally hit the spot! Loved the pastries and ice cream and really happy they were the bakery open Sunday afternoon.
My wife and I were visiting Morro Bay recently and, on our last morning there, decided to walk the Embarcadero one last time and grab a pastry and some coffee. We were familiar with the original Fish Bowl when it was at that location, and decided to go into the Sun-N-Buns Bakery to see what all had changed. My wife and I both ordered a Moca Latte with no whip (since they didn't have half-n-half for the breve) and a couple of pastries. Although the pastries were good, our main reason for going there was coffee ... it was horrible. In fact, I'm not sure I've ever tasted coffee so bad. I would compare it to dirt and cigarette ashes mixed with sea water. The service was friendly, although a bit slow, especially since we were the only ones in there. The atmosphere and decor was confusing. They missed the mark with this little place and, sad to say, I wouldn't recommend it.
Great pastries. I stop by about once per week for something sweet. Also, fresh baked dog bones!!! I've taken our puddle for treats there and she loves it.
We vacation in Morro Bay about every two months and Sun-N-Buns in an EVERY MORNING stop for us. The staff, location, people watching, coffee and freshly made pastries are the best in the area. The music is just right and therefore, conversation is easy. A great place to start your morning as we walk the Embarcadero from beginning to end. They even made the anniversary cake for friends who joined us for their celebration weekend, awesome!!!
