We loved this place. It was our first time there and with a larger party of 7. The service was great and friendly. The food was great. Pizza, lasagna, fettuccine romano all tasted amazing. The environment was warm and cozy. Would definitely eat here on our next trip to Julian.

My husband and I stopped at Romano's for an early dinner after spending the day in Julian, walking, shopping and admiring golden autumn trees. We got a great table and immediately felt at home with the dark wood, table lanterns and country decor. I had heard about the house salad and it certainly lived up to its reputation--mixed greens, cherry tomatoes, artichoke hearts, olives, mushrooms, peppers and croutons--I could have made a meal of it, along with the soft, delicious rolls and Chianti. However, it was a good thing I saved some room for my entree, ravioli with Portabello mushrooms. Simply the best ravioli I have ever had. The dough melted in my mouth, and the red sauce was thick enough to not run off the pasta, yet still light and full of flavor. My husband was equally pleased with his juicy and flavorful chicken Parmesan. The service was also excellent, although the place filled up fast. We ended our perfect dinner with a slice of Julian apple pie we brought home. The only thing I might point out was that I had heard about this place as the Dodge House, yet when we stopped by and asked two waitresses they did not know that. Good thing the Chamber of Commerce was still open to confirm this. It had been a few years since we'd eaten here, but it will not be so long next time!. .
