Crescent Ballroom
Reviews
Crescent Ballroom offers the atmosphere of a "hidden gem" bar with the added bonus of being able to catch a great band or artist. They offer great food and drink options (their menu has expanded from what it used to be and has gotten better). Consider looking at their calendar if you are hoping to spend an evening checking this place out. You can definitely show up at any time but some shows require tickets and if it is a popular up and coming artist, you will have a hard time not only getting in but tickets will be sold out. I just found out that they started offering trivia on Sunday nights which I would assume would work out well here since their sound system is already set up to entertain the entire venues ear.
ASU is close, so the scene can be young, don't be deterred. The food is fantastic and the atmosphere is comfortable. The trivia was 80s / 90s centric, I loved it.
I like that CB is separated into 2 areas for hanging out/eating and concert-viewing. I didn't come for a show but just to meet with some friends after they had been done performing. I thought their house beers were tasty and the drink prices were super reasonable. The menu is mostly Mexican but it was pretty decent and better than most bar food. Service was great even while super busy and the bouncer was ridiculously attractive.
I LOVE Crescent Ballroom! Great venue. Great food (try the burritos) and a good selection of beers.
I like the venue... but they have the worst bartenders I think I have ever encountered... I will not ever spend any of my money buying drinks from the ladies behind the bar on Motown Monday's.
