It was just over $44 for lunch for 2 before tip. We ordered: 1. cheddar cheese fondue for an appetizer: included 1/4 of a sliced red apple, 1/4 of a sliced green apple, about 8 slices of salted pretzel & about 4 slices of sausage. 2. kabobs: chicken, veggies, shrimp & pork and 2 dipping sauces (one was tomatoey & the other was like honey mustard bbq sauce) 3. side order of mac & cheese 4. side order of church fries 5. Arnold Palmer iced tea 6. Coke Atmosphere: The music was a bit loud where we were sitting, every song was upbeat but I only remember knowing one song. It was very busy. I only saw one table that was not full inside. It was a pretty good mix of customers including an older couple, at least one person with gray hair & a party of 4 who looked to be having a lunch meeting. Waitstaff: We were assisted by about 4 different women who were all helpful & pleasant. My husband had his drink refilled twice without asking & mine was refilled once without asking. The employees seemed to be mostly college aged women. Seating: We sat inside but there is also quite a bit of patio seating & I noticed heaters for chilly nights. Specials: They have daily specials after 4pm so we thought about going back to try the pot pie. Other: The hostess said if you plan on going after 6pm you will probably have to wait to be seated. Also, she said they only take reservations for parties of 8 or more. Parking: Plentiful free parking without having to cross Central. Nearby: Churn is next door to The Windsor. They have old time gum & candy, toys like YoYos, cookies & ice cream. It was $3.25 for a scoop of ice cream & the cookies were $2. There was at least one bee in the store because the door was open. They share the same radio system as The Windsor & it is just about as loud. Federal Pizza, Joyride Taco House & Postino are all across the street & share the same parking lot.
I was surprised to see this place completely packed when I showed up Sunday afternoon, I figured this must be the joint to be at. Decor was industrial chic; exposed red brick walls, exposed wood truss ceiling, and polished concrete floors. There was a totally bitchin' patio, it looked like the place to go from spring and fall days. I ordered the grilled chicken sandwich. The menu described it spicy curry, with jalapeno mayo. I was excited to try it, but what ended up happening was far more than my excitement could prepare me for. When I bit into that sandwich the angles sang, the heavens opened, and light shined through the parted sky down on me. I was moved, religiously so, at how god**** delicious that sandwich was. I knew that the lovely girl who served me was no regular bartender, she was an angel serving sweet merciful providence. Baptized by curry spice in the name of The Windsor, I testify that I am now a believer. This place is a must go-to, and I can't wait to try everything else on the menu! Amen.
One of the best values around. Happy hour is excellent. Cocktails are great. My favorite thing on the menu is the ribs and he mac and cheese is a must.
This is absolutely one of my favorite restaurants around town, I have been there about six times in the last two months and the food never disappoints. My two favorite meals so far have been the Backyard Burger Windsor Style and the Pastrami Reuben. Both have been incredibly fresh and cooked to perfection, they also both go great with a side of the Windsor's sweet potato fries. I will be going back here very soon just to snag a burger and a craft beer; also if you make the stop here, make sure to check out Churn next door. You can't beat a tasty meal being topped off with fresh ice cream.
Their Version of Biscuits & Gravy (most places have no idea what they are doing) is AMAZING add The Donut Holes plus the Craft Cocktails & you have a Fan for Life!!
