The Fountainhead Pub
Reviews
This pub has a patio, although it was too cool to sit out there on the day we went. It's a great place to check out the people walking by as you enjoy your drink. You are apt to see somebody that you know. The Fountainhead has been part of the neighbourhood since the year 2000, I believe. It has a variety of drinks and also offers a fairly broad spectrum menu. I am a vegetarian and had no problem getting something to eat. The cocktails are good and mine had a kick to it. The servers are friendly. For those not familiar with Vancouver, this is traditionally known as a LGBT neighbourhood.
Awful food, bitchy, racist server. The heaters make it impossible to sit comfortably on the patio. The food was greasy and very salty. My friend's salmon had to be returned because the smell was unbearably strong and tasted worse. I got the wrong salad with my sandwich but felt bad about asking to get it switched since the salmon already had to be replaced. The server put hospital employee discounts on everyone's bill except for the two Asian girls at the table and was disgruntled when asked to put it on. My friend had to leave early and gave me money to pay for her and get change. I paid for both my meal and hers on credit card with a generous tip but the server then accused me of stealing my friend's money while I was paying. I'm not sure I've ever had a worse dining experience and it will be a cold day in hell before I go back there.
Had a great time until last calm when the bartender told me at 12 that it was last call and no more pool. I had put my money in and since there were 12 more patrons I thought it would be OK. After he got in my face and the whole time it was a straight gay issue. I was supporting the community and he made me feel unwelcome. Dont go if you are straight and want to be treated equal.
I liked this place. I thought the service was pretty decent for a pub.
The food was great but the service lacked elegance. I suppose it's a pub.
