Had great service and selection! Also had decent underground parking for an area that isn't renown for its accessibility. Definitely worthy of your dollar.
I have been shopping at this Safeway for many years. Great selection and good deals. Nice selection of baked goods and vegetables! Above all, the staff is exceptional. Always friendly and knowledgeable!!
After I've stocked up at Costco, anything else I need I typically get here. They're just three blocks from my place so I never have to drive, although they provide a small car park for those who need it. The staff are helpful and generally friendly, more so than the Denman & Robson location whom I find a bit stiff at times. I wish they'd put in an extra bank of self-serve checkouts. I cannot recall when they have had all their regular checkouts operating at once and they could easily do away with a couple of them in favour of more self-serve stations. Their deli hot chicken tenders are yummy!
We rarely go to the Davie Street Safeway because more often than not shelves are bare and items we are looking for are out of stock or haven't been placed on shelves yet. Yesterday Sunday August 12 we went into the store just to see if anything had changed. It had not. When using the self-service checkout we required help but a woman with blond hair and a shorter woman with dark hair tried their best to ignore us. When we insisted they come over to us, the blonde stalked off giving us a disinterested look. The other woman said nothing to us and refused to look at us as she used her key to activate the machine. On the way out of the parking lot the grocery cart stopped a distance from the car. I asked an attendant to report this to his manager. He looked at me with great disinterest and I was left with the impression this Asian man didn't speak English. So it appeared nothing had changed at the Davie Street Safeway...we will continue shopping on Robson.
Never had a problem, They always have whatever i"m looking for and I have barely talked to any of the staff in the two years I have been shopping here. Self check out is the best and if people expect a grocery store's employees to be nice helpful and smile all the time I sure don't know where the hell you buy your food from.
