Owl Sprit Cafe

The food is very good and the atmosphere eclectic and down to earth. It is a small intimate restaurant on a side street with a few outside tables. It is close to the ferry if coming from Whidbey. My one suggestion is that they have huge, as in crazy huge portions. I could easily have shared my pasta dish with my sweetheart and we both would have been full. With Americans being overweight and restaurants struggling to survive I would redo the quantities, reduce the prices slightly and expect to sell more desserts. While wild salmon is served they do use farmed shrimp which is a totally unacceptable shrimp as it pollutes the environment and makes a wasteland in third world countries where it is grown. I suggest the wonderful small shrimp from the coast of Oregon as a substitution. Great little restaurant and always a pleasure to eat there.
What a find. Great atmosphere, French press organic Stumptown coffee and the most divine cherry almond raisin tart. Only sorry that we live in UK.....thanks anyway folks.
I ate two meals at Owl Spirit on a recent visit and enjoyed them both. For dinner I had chicken provincial linguine and for breakfast the scrambled eggs with homemade sausage. The food was great in both instances with quality ingredients well prepared. The pasta was served in one of those large pressed wood bowls and they didn't overdo the sauce so the ingredients didn't have to swim. The breakfast was a unique dish with a plain piece of toast topped with crumbled sausage and pesto, then folded scrambled eggs topped with a white, stringy cheese and thin sliced tomatoes. It was very good and served with fried potatoes. Coffee was served in a French press. The decor is simple and eclectic with orders taken at the counter.
They advertised that their hamburger sliders would be the best you've eaten . . . okay, they were! Outstanding! The tomato bisque was a great addition. Good atmosphere, and I saw as I looked into the kitchen that they do indeed make everything from scratch. Good job ladies. I'll be back when I make another day-trip to Port Townsend!
