Starlight Lounge

While on vacation in Sunterra from Seattle, we stopped in Ellensburg for lunch and fortunately found the Starlight; not only did the décor match the location and environment but with a very hip vibe. The food was excellent! Downhome food with whole ingredients. We wanted to stay for a cocktail but couldn't because of the drive. When we got back downtown my son realized he forgot his bag with id, cash, wallet and etc. It was at the Starlight and Thomas the bartender personally took it to the post office and shipped it. I wish I would have had that cocktail so I could have met Thomas personally. Thank you Thomas and thank you Starlight for the pleasant surprise in Ellensburg! I will definitely be stopping by coming and going to Sunterra/Seattle.

For such a lovely location and warm interior, the Starlight Bar is incredibly lacking. The service is sub-par, the drinks are overpriced for the quality and it's far too crowded to feel even remotely comfortable. With a change in staff and perhaps a smaller admittance the bar could be a great success. Until then, this bar is one of my last stops for a night on the town.

This place is great when it's not incredibly busy. Unfortunately, about every CWU student over 21 flocks here at some point on the weekend. Expect long waits on drinks and standing in a crowded room.

The bar staff gets easily overwhelmed if there are more than 4 people in the bar. Either that or they are just lazy. I am not sure why the Starlight does not want to make money, but they could have easily taken a few hundred dollars off of my friends and I if they got some real bartenders in that place. The bartender who was there seemed to be more interested in looking cute than doing her job, which is too bad because we were ready to lay some money down. Unfortunate.

Service was the worst I've ever had. The restaurant was not busy, there were at least 5 empty tables. Our server cleared the table from previous guests and said she'd wipe the table. She brought menus and we asked her to wipe the table which she did after a few more minutes. She took our order and we also emphasized coffee. It took 20 minutes to get coffee and then only because we asked another server to bring it. Our server brought our food and neither order was as requested but we accepted both in order to be able to eat. By now we'd been at the restaurant 40 minutes. Toast was brought next, not buttered, none offered. There was no salt or pepper on the table. Coffee was poured over the table, wiped up with one of the 2 napkins on the table and no additional napkins were brought even though our server said she'd get some. She left our table and did not return. We finally flagged down another server who brought butter and salt and pepper. By now our food was cold. Did I say our server never returned?? I had to go to the counter and ask for our check. Our server promptly gave it to me but then did not have change. I had to wait for her to get change and she did not do that quickly. She gave me five $1 bills which I put in my pocket, not on the table! I rate this restaurant below average because the food, what we ate, was good. I'd certainly rate it poor if I was rating service alone.
