Toby's Tavern

This place was horrible. The food was alright, I got a burger and fries and it was nothing to rave about. My husband got a steak that came out still frozen in the middle. Whatever, it happens. The service was worse than the food, however, and typically I don't write reviews but this had to be mentioned. The server was incredibly rude, not only to us but to other tables as well. People were visibly upset by her making excuses for why she wasn't getting around to taking orders. "Sir, I am getting these people out of here first, then I'll get to you," is what she said to a man who simply attempted to ask her a question and hadn't bothered her at all. When we finally got up to leave and headed up to pay at the counter, I see the cashier stuffing her face and gossiping with the server about someone in the back. My husband got out his card to pay and held it out for a solid 30 seconds before either of the two very immature and rude ladies bothered to process our payment. The one girl was chewing with her mouth open and talking with food in her mouth the entire time, right at the bar where customers could see her. We were so annoyed at this point that we left a very crappy tip and left. Overall I was really appalled at the service and will never be returning to Toby's Tavern.
We've ate there before and my wife enjoyed the mussels. We tried to go back once and were rudely greeted at the door and quickly pushed out because we had our son (he was maybe 10 months old). One of the ladies said "It says it right on the door. No babies" in a condescending voice. Now I understand that bars/taverns are not allowed to have minors, but we could have had a lot better experience than that. It's too bad that we won't go back anymore.
The food was fantastic, large portions, cooked to perfection. I had the fish and chips, so delicious. But this a casual establishments where you can let you're hair done and enjoy yourself. And that is the beauty of the place. Oh, the steamers were great too. Thanks to a a great waitress to boot. I can't wait to go back. They also have a nice selection of brews. Thanks to all that served us.
What a party!! We are from Maryland and know about local restaurant/pubs. My wife, son, son in law, and I destroyed some great food and drinks! We did oyster shooters, 3lbs steamed mussels, salmon fish and chips, steak, etc. Waitress was a blast and a lot of fun. She also turned me on to Alaskan Beer and don't know how I missed this. Also the décor is truly local and we enjoyed the conversation and people. The best? Mussels, mussels, mussels!
The best tavern on West Coast with a gorgeous view. The mussels are the best and the burgers are fantastic. Great friendly staff. Their brew Parrot is both malty and hoppy.
