Just left the Matterhorn. The place has plummeted. Old and worn and resting on it's laurels. If you want to be ignored while your feet stick to the soggy carpet until they are ready to pour you a flat beer and serve warm sushi, then you're in the right place. There are too many new and better places in Stowe. The Matterhorn's best days have past,so should you.

Every time we visit Stowe, we go to the Matterhorn. It is a local bar with that local feeling. Don't be sensitive when you feel that the warm and fuzzy isn't there. Make yourself known and they are very very friendly. Food is amazing and staff is attentive and on top of your needs.

Every time we're in Stowe we go to the Matterhorn. Great Atmosphere and nice people. Although it's called a restaurant it's really a pub but it has the best food I've ever had in a pub.

After attempting to dine in at 5:15 pm on a Friday night, being a woman alone at the time because my husband is deployed overseas as active duty military, I was not allowed to sit at a table. Instead I was told in a rude manner to sit at a pub height table for two where there was heavy traffic after the waiter slammed a menu on the table and said "there". I was discriminated against because I was a woman alone, did not have a man on my arm and did not appear to be a "big ticket" diner. During the past 8 years my husband and I were treated cordially with respect and dignity by this very same waiter in the same part of the restaurant. In fact, there was a large booth, a table for four and a table for two open in the back of the sushi area. However, without my husband I was treated as a second class citizen. The most sad part was that had my husband been there this never would have happened. I will never step foot in this establishment. I encourage anyone who is military to consider how your wives, or sisters may be treated in your absence. Any woman going alone to dine should think twice or risk being treated like something this waiter wanted to scrape from the bottom of his shoe. Clearly he does not respect women and takes any chance to treat them poorly when alone. Shame on him and shame on this restaurant for hiring such ignorant and backward thinking men.

Fun place. Wish they had popcorn to munch on.
