Timbermine Steakhouse
Reviews
Had a business meeting offsite at the Timbermine. I didn't know what to expect, but I was pleasantly surprised. Location: Awesome. Tucked back int the trees near the mountains. You couldn't ask for a better location near natural beauty. Food: I had turkey steak, wild rice, corn, and rolls. All of it was tasty. Venue: Big. And I mean HUGE. But there's a reason it's still packed every night. Multiple rooms with different themes, antiques, and more--great place for family dining.
I will never come back. We didn't even get seated before the cocktail waitress asked if we would like a cocktail I asked for the menu and she never came back. The steak said moo when I stuck it with the knife. I asked for them to cook it medium and when they brought it back it was well done. My son ordered the filet mignon and it was rare as well. He asked to have it cooked medium and it came back rare again. When we asked the manager (hagitha) it the cooks were new she said they had a 15 and 20 person party come in at the same time and made excuses. She asked if we wanted another steak we thought if they screwed it up twice what makes her think we would want it screwed up again! Brain dead! They wouldn't even comp the meals! They need a manager and new cooks! DONT WASTE YOUR MONEY or TIME!
Not quite up to past visits The wait to be seated was reasonable (about 20 minutes). 'The servers were friendly and were constantly looking to our needs. The food arrived hot and fairly quickly. The stake was cooked exactly as we requested. Let me first state that when we go out for stake, I always have the same stake - a Filet Mignon, so I can easily compare the same stake from different stake houses. This was the toughest Filet I've had in many years. I couldn't believe that I had received what I ordered. I asked the server and it was their filet. There is another Stake house in Ogden that we always went to but after 2 consecutive visits where we had a poor meal (first time was my wife's and the second time was mine) , we have never returned. With the exception of using a gift card, we probably will not return to the Timber Mine. There are other stake houses that we go to where the food is consistently good and predictable, so we will drive a little further to go to them.
I have always loved this place, the atmosphere and food. However i'm officially never coming here again. Over the past 6 months we have been here 5 times, 2 of the times my steak was perfect, the other 3 they under cooked it when I order medium, we are talking raw still! Then when they put it back on, it comes back like beef jerky. Absolutely awful. Mind you this is after waiting for 20 minutes to be seated after an hour drive, then another 20 minutes to get food. Never again, its too bad the cooks suck since the food is great when cooked properly. But I can't do it anymore, that was my last straw. I almost got up and walked out without paying, I wish I would have the more i think about it.
I would definitely recommend this restaurant / reception and banquet location. If you're looking for something new, unique and fun—this will be all of those. My visit wasn't just a normal eat out. My company held a team off-site here in the their reception hall. The view was great. A huge wall of windows looking out on the mountains. Food was good. Classic country food. Don't miss out on the rolls. Perfect mix of crunch and soft. In the booths for sitting you can even adjust your own lighting. Kind of a fun idea.
