Jack Allen's Kitchen

My go-to dish is the chicken fried beef ribs but for a quick lunch I went with the sloppy jack. I am high five-ing myself for this choice. I can taste the sweet chopped beef rib and the buns were soft. Also I recommend going with sweet potato fries dipped in the jalapeño mayonnaise. Amazing. SCD - none at this moment. Off the ScD wagon at this point unless I get a salad. I really don't like salads.

We stopped at the one in Round Rock and it was awesome. Robert, our waiter, was so good and knew the menu very well. The food was terrific....appetizer and entrees. The pimento cheese taster at the beginning is delicious and very smart thing to do. It made me want to buy some pimento cheese to take home! Thanks for a great experience!! We will be back for sure. Y'all this buffet is as good as it gets. ANYTHING you could possibly want for breakfast is lined up on a table and just waiting for you to get at it. All super fresh, all super delicious, and the best part you ask? The wait staff is so kind and genuine. They honestly want you to come and have a great time. If you make a reservation it is super quick and easy. Otherwise you will be looking at some serious wait time, especially for larger parties. I just went again recently for my boyfriend's birthday and I was so impressed that our reserved table was right by the food and framed by a beautiful window. It definitely made the date more romantic and exciting. We love Jack Allen's!

Oh my goodness, their Sunday brunch buffet. I wore a maxi skirt with a lot of stretch just for this occasion. A lot of butter and cheese and carbs and meat, but still some green chiles and tomatoes thrown into some of it. They bring out fresh biscuits and gravy, pancakes, and eggs any style for the table. Overall food was really solid, but I didn't find one dish to be that amazing. I was really impressed by the quality and how frequently refilled buffet trays (sometimes you never know how long those things have been sitting out). Service was really great, and our server was super sweet.

The menu choices, prices, food quality and service are excellent – 4.5 at least. This would be our favorite restaurant in Austin, by far, except for one thing – the noise level in the dining room is nearly painful. It's difficult to carry on conversations with the person across the table, and by the time you leave, unless you had way too much to drink, you just want to be out of the noise. It must be the architecture/acoustics. We eat there several times a year but if it weren't for the noise, we'd eat there much more often.
