#12daysofchristmasatx Midnight rodeo was my first experience of two-stepping to country music (I'm not a native Texan) and I had a fantastic time. They allow 18+ with hand stamps for under 21s so be prepared for a younger crowd. When I was there it was busy but not overcrowded. The atmosphere was great. Definitely worth a visit but take someone who can show you the basics if you don't know how to two step!

The Good: Thursday Night College Night. Large Dance Floor. The Bad: Way too crowded. Way too many teenagers. Cover charge. Kinda Pricey on the Drinks. The music selection is awful. The Ugly: Its location makes this an off-night destination. i.e. Thursday Night. Any weekend visit will make you feel angry at yourself for wasting a perfectly good night. Gets too crowded around 11 pm on a Thursday. You will feel out of place if your over 26.

Went down to this place for a bar promotion, which means that I haven't been here since my college days in the 90s. I can't believe how this place is still going strong, and how the college kids are swarming to it. The atmosphere is electric, and you can see that the kids are all ripe for dancing. When I went, it was freezing cold, but yet the girls came in skimpy outfits, to try to show off how hot they were, and yes, they were smoking. The music played was mostly country, with some hip hop music thrown. Definitely a recommend if you are under the 30 crowd, but you may stick out if you are beyond that.

1. Country music 2. Cowboy hats 3. We knew this But the floor! So pretty. Vast wooden floors are something rare these days, particularly ones that are not warped, sticky with spilled drink and/or filthy enough to ruin whatever footwear you're using to navigate said floor. Midnight seemed to maintain their floor nicely, and bonus: no stone pillars to crash into! Not that your lead would ever purposely crash you into a pillar made of stone, but it is a nice bonus. Drawback: broken A/C in the middle of a stretch of 100+ degree forecasts. Luckily they brought out their giant floor fan, but not sufficient when you can feel yourself about to burst into flames to the Cotton-Eyed Joe line dance. Ya, not cool M.R.

I have been taking dance lessons with my hot looking wife to be for the past year and started going to Midnight Rodeo about nine months ago. The staff quickly recognized us as regulars and we have been treated like royalty each week that we go. The dance floor is HUGE and there are loads of hot chicks there that easily outnumber the dudes by like 5:1. There can be times when the music is a little off - I cannot stand the 10:00-10:45 time when you can count on some contemporary RAP music and cheesy 'Wild Thang' but suck it up and grab an adult beverage and wait until a nice waltz comes on and get your freak on. Beats Dallas any day of the week, and, there are no cement brick poles to bang into when you are cruising the floor. Hot chicks rule.
