tl;dr - overprices, steep covers, watered down drinks Weekend Cover Charge: $20 per person after 9pm Average Cost for 16 oz can PBR or Sierra Nevada: $8 I've been here for seasonal events like Winterfest and Halloween parties, as well as for sports games and other random weekend nights. I've decided I'm done after this past Halloween event. I paid $80 for a pair of VIP open bar tickets for my girlfriend and myself. When I ordered my first drink, I was informed that "open bar" meant cheap, domestic beers and some mid-grade liquor. Instead of getting sick on PBR or Miller Lite, I decided to stick with Absolut vodka all night. I am a 250 lb athletic male and soon discovered that I was not feeling the effects of the alcohol. I had three drinks in my first hour (Absolut vodka and Sprite poured in tall, 16 oz plastic cups). That evening, I did not get drunk nor did I even get tipsy despite my eight drinks in three-and-a-half hours. My girlfriend, a 115 lb dancer ordered six mixed drinks to the same result. She usually gets tipsy off of one beer, and she was sober all night. Now, you may be thinking, "This guy's an alcoholic" or "He's just some **** going out to get sh**faced." That would be an incorrect assumption. You see, I drank more because I started to wonder if they were watering down their drinks. They smelled strong, but vodka doesn't really smell, especially Absolut. So I started pounding them down like Sammy Sosa did steroids to beat a record. I didn't have caffeine in case the effects were reversed or minimized in any way. Should I have had beer instead to avoid being cheated? Perhaps, but that's not what I wanted to drink. And I paid for all of it, not just PBR and Miller. The event promised live entertainment all night. The band got on stage two hours late, but there was no room in the main hall to see them. The side bars had their own entertainment, which you literally had to plug your ears to walk through. You couldn't hear an ambulance in those places. My DD took us home since we were bored (and surprisingly sober). Sure, I may sound like a crotchety old man, but I gave this place multiple chances to redeem itself. Gave it two stars instead of one because it does have redeeming features, including cleanliness. General Events - Average Event Prices: $15-60 per person - If at all possible, they oversell tickets so that the place is packed to the point you cannot walk anywhere. Literally, they make it impossible to order anything at the bar since they're so packed. - If they promise food at an event, they are lying. Winterfest 2014 tickets were supposed to include gourmet meal with several options from which to choose. I got mac and cheese with ham. What am I, four? Facilities - The place has tons of bars and restaurants, each with their own entertainment. The center area has a big screen TV and several bars and beer stations. It's a great setup for parties and the wait is rarely long for service. - The bathrooms are large and clean. As a man, I didn't have to wait for either a stall or a urinal. Thumbs up on that alone. Sometimes they have guys with cologne and offering hand lotion. Awkward, but okay.
As Philadelphia's top entertainment photographer, I think XFINITY Live! Does a pretty good job here in our city. It can get crowded at times and that is when things become fun. I was very disappointed in PBR though. There is an amazing lack of quality, service and space there. I do blame the managers as the actual bars should be big enough to serve the amount of people that frequent. PBR seems to focus on the bull riding and "go go" girls more than fast service and decent pricing. My advice would be to enjoy the entire facility but defiantly skip over the cowboys as you are not really missing anything but long waits for over priced drinks. JoeyMas - PhillySnaps
I give 4 stars. I have no complains but the prices! Some stuff is really expensive but the rest is really outstanding. In the middle of every sport complex of the four major sport teams in Philadelphia. ATM station is just a two minute walk away. Huge screeens and most important fellow fans make this place special. They charge a 5$ fee to get in and it´s still packed. But overall I like the experience.
Great place, decent specials during events... though when it gets crowded... it... gets... crowded.
Another money grab at the sports complex. Bad expensive food. Lousy service. If you wanna put on your jersey, and get loud, drunk and stupid while dropping a wad of cash, this is your place. Heavy moron element. Where drunken foul mouthed tailgaters go when it,s too cold or raining....
