BMW of the Main Line

Bought an off-lease 7 from here in 2011. Worst car ever! A plethora of problems. But here are a few of them (copied and pasted from a complaint email I sent to the sales person who sold me this garbage): Here’s a list of the problems with it since we acquired it June of 2011: • One time, your maintenance department kept the car for more than a week to fix a simple problem with the sun shades for both the left and right sides of the windows in the back. The sunshades never really worked properly, even after the fix. And now that the car is out of manufacturer’s warranty I have to pay a deductible for your maintenance dept to take a look at it again. It’s going to cost me about $200 to fix it… after it was supposedly fixed last year. • A few speakers and the subwoofer had to be replaced. • The soft closing door mechanism had to be replaced, on the driver’s and front passenger side. I can’t tell you how dangerous it was for me to drive and have the door not be able to close properly. • One time, when my mother was driving the car… it just stopped. In mid traffic. Engine shut off. Needless to say, she was pretty scared about the whole thing. A day after that happened, I took it to your maintenance dept, no one figured out what was wrong with it. • It’s been a couple of times when I go to push the start button… nothing happens. Dead fish. Embarrassing to say the least. • One time, after about 2 weeks of not driving the car… I go to drive it… the engine started and the car kept jerking back and forth… your maintenance dept attributed it to “piston misfire” due to power failure. • A few weeks ago, the driver’s window just stopped working. I dropped it off at maintenance… because the manufacturer’s warranty ran out, I have to pay a deductible to have it fixed. • The car is being re-programed due to a recall letter sent. Not very reassuring to me after the multitudinous amount of problems we’ve had. • We bought the car in June of 2011 with about 32,000 miles on it… today it has about 47,000 miles. After two years and 15,000 miles… your maintenance dept informed me that one of the arms holding the wheel up is starting to crack. They said it’s due to wear and tear. Which does not sound credible to me… because if that were the case, shouldn’t all four arms or at least two arms on the same side have the same cracking? In any case, 15,000 miles for two years is wayyyy below the average of miles people put on their cars. That’s because the car is parked half the time because I have two cars to drive. You’re telling me after 15,000 miles… normal wear and tear cracks the arm of a BMW 750Li???? Well… it’s going to cost about $900 out of my pocket to fix that, because manufacturer’s warranty ran out and your extended warranty doesn't cover that. And even if 15,000 miles of wear and tear can cause cracks… it means you've peddled me a defective, faulty car.
I have to say I've never felt rip off in my adult life until i brought my car to BMW of the Main Line. I brought my car in because i recently replaced my right side headlight unit from them..and now the water gotten into my headlight. they kept on telling me its not working because i opened the cover in that back of the light. It is clearly that the water get into it from under the headlight at the ballast. i've spent over 6K in the past 6 months and they going to tell me they can't replace the headlight.
These guys know how to provide service! I had two bad experiences with my BMW dealer in Devon and called BMW of the Main Line. They picked up my car at my office, left me a loaner, fixed my car and returned it to me at home. Their folks are considerate, capable and clean. Nick DeFelice in the Sales Department is simply the best. BMW is a first-class car and BMW of the Main Line provides the kind of first-class service you expect when you buy a car of this quality.
Bought my new Activehybrid 3 and have purchased 2 other cars from here over the last 5 years and have been treated wonderfully every time. I find their service area to be the utmost professionals and always accommodating. I've used their service department several times and have always had a stellar experience. I gave them 4 stars because the last service appointment that I scheduled, I showed up the day of the appointment and my Service Adviser was off that day. That was kind of frustrating since they want you to visit your SA the day of your visit. But someone else helped me and did a great job. They have always continued to exceed my expectations.
Great service department. Had every reason to be worried about my newly purchased vehicle from CarMax and these guys did quick work and gave me a shot of confidence. Will be using them for service from here on out!
