Red Brick Tavern

Found this a few weeks ago and absolutely loved it. It's a hopping place with a very comfortable atmosphere. Really tasty food. Huge portions. Lots of leftovers to take home. Great service. Have been there twice and had the same results both times. They recommend reservations at all times, so plan ahead.
Friday night. The beer was warm, draft beer with no head means a dirty glass. And it was both. the waitress was nice. The burger was raw when I wanted medium. The hostess was unpleasantly argumentative with me about what medium should be. I maintain that it should not run blood red in the middle. It did. I guess its nice when business is so good that you do not care if your clientele goes away un-happy. I won't return. When it was Ray's Village Inn it was better.
This place is possibly the hest restraunt in new york. Seriously, i have ate there dozens of times and never once was dissatisfied. Food size is humunigous you get about 2-4 meals out of it. The best part is the food tastes amazing! I dont know how they afford to serve such high quality food at these prices. For example: there 214 meal is pasta six crab claws, 4/6 big shrimp, scallops, muscles, and is huge. A 11 out of ten.
This would be the third time a group of six of us entered a "mostly empty" restaurant late afternoon on a Sunday. Only to have an extremely grumpy waitress harass us about a reservation, and just being generally rude. We decided to leave this time. If you are into a waitress yelling at you, by all means go there, but it's not for me.
I've eaten at the Red Brick 4 times. All the food I've had there has been fantastic. I always look forward to going back. Problem is, the seemed to be closed often. In addition to the four times I've been, there have been another 4 instances where I've driven to Rosendale, only to find the Red Brick closed for vacation or a holiday (what restaurant closes for Columbus Day?). So call ahead. Prices are reasonable and the portions are generous. Service has been good, but not great.
