Pasta Cafe Italian Bistro
Reviews

By reading the reviews, this restaurant is hit or miss with its service. Unfortunately, our service was miss. Our waiter was horrible. he was too busy chatting with his co-workers instead of attending to us. If a drink glass gets to the bottom, the waiter has failed. If that empty glass sits on your table for 10 minutes, it's an epic fail. Last night was an epic fail. I had ordered iced tea. After a few sips, I didn't like the taste. It was old tea that had been sitting. I told the waiter I'd like a Diet Coke because I wasn't digging the tea. He said, "I don't blame you." Which leads me to believe that he knows their tea is bad. Don't drink the tea! The food was okay. For an appetizer, we had the calamari. It was very chewy. I had the scallops romano with roasted vegetables. The scallops themselves were good. The sauce they were in was horrible. The roasted vegetables were ice cold. My partner had Scallops Verde. Some of the scallops were cooked to perfection, but others were not and very chewy. The food on the outside of the plate was very cold. It was okay. Nothing special about this place. Prices were average to what you'd pay at an Olive Garden. We will not be back.

When we first arived, we asked for a booth, and were told that we could not have one because there were only two of us and a larger party might show up (that never happened). Our waiter, Ken, took our drink order and then proceded to wait on other customers, instead of putting the order in. We were given stale bread. When we mentioned it, we were told that they are famous for their bread, and it was baked fresh that morning. The manager eventually came out with another order of bread that was better. He told us that they must have messed up when making the break that morning. Through out our meal, the waiter seemed too busy to check on us. When he did, he would very quickly pass by. We ordered the Fetuccini Alfredo and the Manicotti Bolognese. These were both very good. I definitely recommend them. For dessert we ordered Tiramisu. I was VERY disappointed with this. There were only two lady fingers in it, it had chocolate syrup all over it (something I've never seen before), and absolutely no espresso flavor. It tasted way too much like whipped cream. All in all, the entrees were very nice, well put together, and flavorful. The dessert and the servicce were horrible. I will never return to this restaurant.

Main courses (fettuccine Alfredo and manicotti bolognaise) were fantastic. Service was very sarcastic and condescending...our bread was horribly stale and he made it seem like our fault we didn't like it. Same with the so called tiramisu (was essentially whipped cream with a lady finger and chocolate syrup? ). The manager on duty comped the horrible tiramisu and got us fresh bread.

Our main complaint is the indifference of the waiter, whose demeanor was rather intimidating and not welcoming. Further, we ordered a gorgonzola salad but we were given a house salad. When we asked the waiter as to the salad mix up, he stated that they were "out of the gorgonzola salad mix" and had to substitute a "house salad mix" for the gorgonzola salad to make the salad "a gorgonzola salad", which is rather insulting to us as customers. We should have been informed of this (the restaurant being out of gorgonzola mix) when we were ordering so that we might have changed our minds and ordered something else. Lastly, my wife and I both believed that we would be charged the price of the house salad when given the check, but this was not so... When the check came, we were still being charged the price of the gorgonzola salad ($8.99) instead of the house salad ($5.99). This whole event was not a welcoming experience for our first day in Roswell.

We recently went to dinner at the Pasta Cafe. The food was excellent. However, we had a very unfortunate experience with our bill. At the end of our dinning our bill arrived. Luckily my wife checked the totals over--I rarely do as I know most people do not. She noticed the bill belonged to someone else as it had completely different orders on it. We asked our waiter about this and he said "oh--that is my fault--I gave your bill to the people behind you a half-hour and they already paid it and this bill belongs to them." We asked for our bill to be re totaled and the waiter said he could not do that and that we would have to pay the bill that belonged to the people he accidentally switched bills with even though it was a higher amount. (This was the first red flag if I would have caught it because a half-hour ago our bill had not even been totaled as we had not even finished ordering.) From there I made a huge mistake because I was very tired and just paid the bill in cash and we left. After thinking the situation over later with a clearer head my son and I did some research and found that what happened to us is a very frequent scam by waiters, especially in a town like Roswell where many new people come and go a great deal--often travelers like us who are tired and not paying attention.
