Just had the Clams and one of their side salads.. I have been traveling all over trying different Fried Clam places.. and this is definitely one of the Best I have had the pleasure of tasting.. it was the day before Thanksgiving.. so kinda slow.. rainy and cold.. but we (Dad and I) were traveling to RI, but I am so glad we made this our lunch stop.. It will be on every trip I make from now on.. and PS: the box they show you for sizing.. is filled piled high.. also had one of there basic salads... and it was very good... with lots of goodies.
If you dont like rules, stay away- signs everywhere telling you where to stand, etc. Dont dare ask for extra tartar sauce.
It doesn't look like much from the outside but the seafood is outstanding.
For starters the staff was rude. Most important the food was deplorable. I live less than a quarter mile away and the burgers for my kids were ice cold. I literally squeezed the grease out of the french fries ending up with a puddle on my plate. My husbands shrimp was stringy and tasted like old fish. My clams had the consistency of a tire. And the tarter sauce, and batter used for fried items, was flavorless. When I called to complain I was offered a credit. Why on earth would I want to eat there again. I should have been offered my money back. Terrible customer service. I learned my lesson and will never again stray from the Clambake in Ipswich. If you're looking for great, fresh, fried seafood you're search is over.....go to the CLAMBAKE!!
