Essex Street Grille

Honestly this place is confusing. I do not know what is confusing about food. You sit, you order, you eat, you pay. However this is not the case with this place. As me and my fiancee walked in there was no greeter in the front podium, some young man walked over to us and knotted his head. I told him a table for two, he looked confused and said you should have called ahead with some slight" you should have known" attitude. I was fine with this. Given the name on sign saying "Grille" me and my fiancee were steered to order steak from the many steak options on the menu. I had the steak tips with hand cut fries and my fiancee had two steak filets wrapped in bacon also with hand cut fries. Before anything let me tell you the fries were overcooked to an overwhelming crisps. My steak tips tasted too much like grill and not enough like steak. Her steak filets had a weird fatty taste along with weird textured to it almost as if eating some weird powdery meat. If it ended there I would have just said okay maybe there's just something wrong with the steak, then I saw the bill, $6.00 for two small sip size mason jar cokes (ex: one can of coke divided in the two). Wont recommend this place for food to anyone! From what I heard from the locals, the bar is much better but drinks are the same at almost every other place. Will definitely avoid eating here in the future. On the plus side the brownies were good!
My first time there and would go again a hidden jewel in Haverhill
Excellent! My wife and I loved the food, drinks, atmosphere (even the music was great), and service. We thought it was reasonably priced for such excellent high-quality food. We will definitely come back!
Service was terrible, the food was ok, but way overpriced.
Great service - great house white
