Shiki Sushi

We ordered a medium rare steak and it came out medium well, the manager came over and told us that it was a miscommunication between the chefs but he did nothing about it. He even asked us, "what do you want me to do!" Very upset with the service. The server did not come check on us much either, she did not pick up the plates even though the plates were piled up. She only came once to check on us during our one hour stay. The manager also gave us an attitude when we told him about what happened. The facial expression and attitude he gave us was "you're wasting my time." It was great back then, but now with Shiki being under new management, never going back again.
If needed to describe Shiki Sushi in one word, it would be SPECTACULAR! I work for the Pawtucket Red Sox, the Triple A Affiliate of the Boston Red Sox. While in Durham last year to play the Durham Bulls in the playoffs our Team President wanted to buy the team the post game spread. Almost the entire team requested good sushi. I know nothing about sushi and never tasted it and always considered it "bait." Where do I find a sushi place in Durham? I have never seen any water in Durham. When I asked around the same answer was told to me. "Shiki Sushi." Thats where we got it and the players, coaching staff and training staff all loved it. We returned to Durham this season and the players from last years team were asking about the sushi. The Team President once again said to buy them another post game meal. Now there was no problem. I knew exactly where to go. I induldged in sushi during the meal last season and really enjoyed it. I called Shiki and spoke with Cathy and told her that we need to feed 35-40 hungry sushi loving pro athletes. Cathy kept in touch throughout the day and gave me her cell phone number should I have and questions. She gave me a list of what type of sushi and all the sauces, wasabi and chop-sticks would be inculded. I could not believe how affordable it was! Once again, Shiki hit a Home-Run! I went to the restuarant to pick up the many platters of the bait. The staff there is spot on. They are friendly, funny and yet very professional. I met with Lloyd who gathered up a crew to lug all this food out to the truck. After the extra inning game, the team was very pleased to see such a great spread of sushi! Every single member of the team said how delicious and fresh it all was and actually asked if they could have it again for tomorrow! They devoured it like a hungry fish eats the bait. They were all full and there was even some left over for the clubhouse staff! Thank you very much Shiki Sushi for doing it again! I assure you we will return. You have an All-Star Staff! One of THE best restaurants I have ever been to for sushi. their shrimp in a blanket and tom yom soup (water base is better) are also super tasty. Their sushi is on point, they are big and full of flavor. they are also buy one get one. how can you argue with this? The best ones are Florida, Bagel, Dynamite, NC Sunset, Nemo, and Crunchy. The decor now looks real weird, but who the hell cares when the food is so on point. the waiter Teddy is also amazing, make sure you get him. but the wait staff are so kind. My absolute favorite place for japanese food.
Great lunch or date night place to get sushi. The wife and I love Shiki for the delightful assortment of flavorful sushi. BOGO sushi is never bad, and never leaves us unsatisfied. Personal favorite is the caterpillar roll, with the sake beef on it.
Love their rolls. Eat in to save money with their buy a sushi roll get one free policy.
