Rendezvous Cafe and Wine Bar

Great place to enjoy good food and wine while listening to great music.
Went to this restaurant last night (10/11/2014 with another couple. Was not impressed when we walked in, but it was our first time there. Nothing really knocked our socks off when we came in. The food was great, but the service was subpar. Our male waiter, didn't explain any specials or go over the menu. Never did find out what "Tapas" were. We figured out by ourselves it was appetizers. The menu is not geared for dinner, but mostly sandwiches and breakfasts. Not really dinner oriented. We received our meal, and that was the last time we saw our waiter. He did come by later to give us our check and asked if we needed anything else. I asked for some water refills. It never came. He never asked us if we wanted dessert. We ordered a bottle of wine. That was $28.00. This was excessive as we could get the same at a local grocery store for $9-10. Not worth it. The live music they had was overly loud and couldn't carry on a conversation with those at the small tables. There also was a Cardinal game on at the same time the live music and most of the attention was on the game and not the music, so there was more excitement from the crowd for the game with clapping. The management should not have had the game on with the live music at the same time. Very disrespectful to the performers. They make you pay a minimum of $10.00 per person for live shows/music. Overall, this is an ok place to go, Nothing fancy, no atmosphere.
Been there a couple time. Seriously took them close to hr to make a cheese tray. Horribly slow service. OK food, nothing to write home about. Recommend going to McGurks across the street. Not as good as the original downtown, but still waaay better than Rendezvous.
I have had many baby showers and wedding showers here. Great food, friendly staff, wonderful wine, and awesome coffee!
Although our waitress was fine, the food for the third time in a row was less than desirable. In the past I really enjoyed bringing people into Rendezvous. It used to be a cozy place to enjoy food and a cup of coffee or glass of wine. So far this year they have struck out miserably on the food side. What used to be THE place for red velvet cupcakes is now THE place to avoid purchasing a cupcake or sandwiches. The last three times our food has been unpleasant and our favorite part, the cupcakes, have been horrible. We just came in for my birthday and purchased two cupcakes to-go. We brought them home hoping to enjoy our favorite treat only to bite into cupcakes that tasted like they were days old. They were dry and inedible. What a shame. I hate to see small businesses let quality slip. Oh well. We'll have to seek out the next venue for those special outings.
