I’ve been a big Amighetti’s fan since I moved here eight years ago – first in Hazelwood (since it was near my work, but now, sadly, is closed) and then in O’Fallon (since it’s near my home). Best dinner, in my opinion, has to be the lasagna with garlic bread. I’m told that the lasagna is made fresh in-house. It’s not available every day - only from time-to-time as a special – but worth calling to see when they have it, and planning your trip accordingly. For lunch, you can’t beat their "Amighetti’s Special" sandwich and a bowl of soup. Potato – Bacon is the best, but all of their homemade soups are great.
How to really offend a good customer. After several orders in a short period of time missing paid for extra ingredients, I questioned the owner as the experience I was having when purchasing a meal from Amighetti's. Brace yourself for this now... Be prepared for the offer of refunding the cost of missing items that really change the entire experience of the meal when discovered after taking it some 12 miles to home, and when refusing that you may be offered a replacement sandwich with allot of catches. When you explain it was double meat ( same as always ) be prepared to provide proof of purchase. Be prepared to have the stores hired "employees problems following instructions" used to explain the botched sandwichs. Be prepared to set an appointment to show your receipt to collect the replacement sandwich, which the owner Mary Ellen will fail to keep. Be prepared for a great sandwich most of the time and treated as a distrusted customer when the sandwich doesn't match your paid extra for order. Be prepared for anything except a prompt, simply apology with a side offer to correct the mistake - something I call good customer service. They don't offer good customer service at this location but most of the time you can get a great sandwich. I've been experiencing these sandwiches since just after 1977 when we first moved to the area.
Had the Amighetti's Special sandwich and was awesome. Just the right combo of meats, peppers,onions,fresh bread and such. The special sauce brings it all home. They have some type of home made chip that was really good as well.
