We were very disappointed with this restaurant. My rib-eye steak looked like it had been run over in the parking lot and then put on my plate. Our baked potatoes were not cooked enough. There was no bread, no salad - oh, we could order a side salad for an additional $5.95, really? Very expensive, our most expensive meal out for the week in Grand Marais. I would not recommend the restaurant to anyone. It's a week later and I just saw my credit card post and it still makes me feel disappointed. The bar area was full but only two other tables in the restaurant were occupied for dinner. I think that is telling in itself, we were there between six and seven pm. There were also cobwebs between the door and the wall with several dead bugs hanging on it. It was not new, it had been there quite awhile. It definitely was not a value nor a pleasant dining experience. We were very disappointed.
Very nice staff. Local feel with a great patio!
We visited the lovely old Birch Terrace for dinner this evening. Everything from start to finish was wonderful! Our Walleye was prepared perfectly, our Caesar salad was cold, fresh, crisp and delicious, including great, crunchy croutons. The bread was warm and fresh. Our table was romantic, and the service was excellent!
