Boathouse
Reviews
Editing my review with experiences from a year later 2014: I was in Ely again and decided to give the Boathouse another go. I stayed away from the hamburger this time and got the Ruben. This time the sandwich was excellent. It may have been my mood, or it may have been an improvement in the intervening year, but I felt that the beers I tried were much better than in 2013 as well. I will definitely return in 2015 when I go to the Boundary Waters. 2013: The beer is okay, but not great by craft brew standards. We ordered hamburgers and fries -- the burger was a pre-frozen patty, and the fries were underwhelming. (Bartender confirmed that the beef patties come out of the freezer). $6.99 for a frozen patty slapped on a grill is a bad deal no matter how many fries they pile on the plate with it. Go for the beer, skip the food.
best bloody Marys in Ely
We loved the burgers and fries when we went there! Delicious homestyle north country food, perfect after several days lost and distraught in the Boundary Waters. TV turned off while eating, in the middle of our golf tournament. One week later, it was still off. Our waitress who we had both time was incredibly nice and pleasing voice that completed the atmosphere of the restaurant! Overall a fine establishment!
Good service, good food.
The craft beers here stoudt at the devil and red ale made me wish they were not 200 miles away.Returning on fathers day 2013 6 people in place was ignored for 15 min even trying to engage employees from BS ing with friends walked out !!!!
