The Embassy Restaurant & Lounge
Reviews
Time to revisit this review, as I finally made it back here. Okay, so, I will chalk my previous experiences up to the aftermath of the great Lansing ice storm. This time, we were given prompt and courteous service (granted, there were only about 6 people in the restaurant, so it was a bit easier). The food all came out quickly and tasted fantastic. I really loved the spicy hummus. The falafel was some of the best I've ever had. My wife's chicken shawarma was also fantastic. The lentil rice soup was delicious. Finally, this is one of the first places I've ever had Lebanese rice pilaf that actually had a decent amount of seasoning. No bland rice here! The only place where they lose a star is on their pita. Perhaps I'm just spoiled by having eaten at 2 Booli in Farmington Hills, where it comes fresh out of the oven to your table, but it seems to me that a Lebanese place should make their own pita, and make it fresh. The pita they serve is either resold from New Jerusalem Bakery, or is made well in advance and sits around. Heck, if you're going to serve packaged pita, at least take it out of the baggies and warm it up before it comes to the table! Other than that, this place is a winner, just don't go there after a major catastrophe...
My wife and I enjoyed our lunch there. Though the service was a bit slow considering the restaurant was at less than half capacity. Our server was friendly and helpful.
