Westlawn Inn
Reviews
Westlawn Inn is the wife’s and I go to place. Outstanding food, quality service, great live music, and an exceptional restaurant. The ambiance is unique, an upscale restaurant without the attitude, meaning it’s as well suited for a dress up formal date night out, or simply a casual night where you want quality service and food. The Chef does an excellent job of creating dishes with flavors that complement each other extremely well. An excellent selection of wines. With music on Fri & Sat nights (and often other nights) this has become our standard Saturday night out. A true treasure for the North Beach area. You will drop some money here but not near as bad as driving into DC.
The food and ambiance at this restaurant is excellent for this area. In the summer months they have seating availability on their porch. The kitchen readily altered their menu to meet my gluten-free and vegetarian request. No other restaurant in the area really can compare to the Westlawn Inn in terms of quality. The wine list is excellent and very reasonably priced. Really, the only complaint we had was a slight smell of cigar smoke from the bar, but you won't smell it while in the restaurant. We went to the bar for after dinner drinks and enjoyed talking to both the other clients as well as the owners.
Restaurant in south county, but I'm not so sure I want to share this great dining experience with so many people. The food is delicious, the atmosphere lovely and the owner and staff are a delight...taking several friends tonight...
Westlawn has quickly become one of our favorite places to dine. In an area where there are a handful of casual restaraunts, it nice to have a higher end "date night" kind of place to go without the kids. The owners are firendly and can usually be found working behind the bar in the lounge (seperate room from the dining room) and offer up good conversation. After a cocktail in the lounge we move on to the dining room for dinner. The wine selection is good with options that are wallet friendly as well as your higher end selections. The service has always been friendly and attentive to your needs. The menu is concise and fresh selections come in from time to time. We have had many great meals including the calamari appetizer, scallops, duck breast, and filet. They also have a must try cream of crab soup that is out of this world. I'm not a desert person but the wife always seems satisfied with their Creme Brulee du jour. Other notes worth mentioning - Saturday nights are Jazz night and offer good music and a good crowd. Sunday brunches are well worth the trip as well.
For atmosphere and truly fine dining, this is the ONLY place in north beach/chesapeake beach. The food was outstanding. Live entertainment was wonderful and the whole atomosphere is intimate and charming. The server we had did not seem like a fit there. Aside from spilling my red wine all over me and not bringing a replacement glass (but of course charging for the full glass), and not replacing the table cloth after the spill, she really didn't have a clue about the menu. I got the impression that the owner is passionate about food and dining experiences. That should be reflected in his staff as well. Regardless, I will definitely be going back again.
