John & Tony's
Reviews
the food was horrible, and to make matters worse when I took two bites and sent the food back they tried to charge me for it anyway. I refused to pay (for my meal that was bad, but pay for the rest of the food) and they called the police (what?) and he tried to get me arrested. the police told me they have had problems with him before, and that him calling was ridiculous. Further, after he served me a drink, he tried to have the police give me a DUI. the one drink did not even register, the police said the whole deal was a joke, a waste of their time and have never seen a restaurant owner, (Tony) act this way. Stay away from this place if you are picky. If you like being mistreated and don't mind garbage it is ok. usually a restaurant tries to earn business not lose it. if I could give minus 5 stars I would!
We live in the area and have been to John & Tony's many times for a weekend dinner the last several years. A great overall experience with food and service. Recommend the Filet Trio, Ribs, Blackened Tilapia and the Filet Skewers, plus the Crab Stuffed Mushrooms, had the last two today. We had a drink in the bar after dinner and the entertainment was awesome. Definitely an older crowd most of the time but that suits us just fine.
The customer service that the owners & staff show is great... However, the food quality is not consistent. The first time I dined in with my husband I had an amazing plate of pasta, but when they gave me my salad it was just a plate of lettuce which the waitress claimed that's how it came. The second & third time I picked up & the meatballs were all bread crumbs no meat, & the salad was rotten/uncrisp. I wanted to like this place... but the inconsistent quality makes it a crap shoot.
My family and I go there at least once a month. the food is delicious and prices are very reasonable. Great steaks and ribs!
I think the food's fantastic. My favorite dishes include the blackened tilapia and the prime rib roast beef sandwhich. Without a doubt one of the best beef sandwhiches in Chicago. The pizza there is awesome as well and a usual for me. As for the service, just get to know one of the bartenders, Valerie or Michelle, and you'll see how they'll always treat you like family. Stop in for a meal and I'm sure you'll be impressed.
