Colony Village Restaurant

We stopped here on our way back from Davenport last Sunday. I have been to this restaurant several times over the past 35 years, with the last being 8 yrs ago. In the past the food and service had always been excellent. Not this time...We were seated promptly, at the time there were perhaps 6 other people in the dining room, with 3 servers. It took about 15 min before anyone even acknowledged us. We ordered hamburger and fries. The hamburgers were not edible. They were very greasy and tasted as though they were freezer burnt. The lettuce, tomato and pickle were all soggy. The fries were good but for $20 for 2 burgers and 2 drinks this was not a value for the money. The restrooms also needed a serious amount of attention as they were dirty. We will not be returning anytime soon.
Honest to God, when we walked into this place I kept wondering when they would wheel the body out! Two other people in the whole place, but I thought, this IS Amana, SO they HAVE to have GREAT FOOD, RIGHT!? WRONG! I ordered a ham steak that was $19. You would have thought you would get everything but the tail. The thing WOULDN'T have made a good sandwich! NEVER, NEVER again! "Restaurant Impossible" from the Food Network would turn tail and RUN!!!
Uncomfortable seating. After the server took our drink order they weren't brought to the table until the food was and in tiny tiny glasses. Food was okay. There weren't any servers around for at least 20 minutes and I was parched. Horrible service.
The best pie ever!! Good tenderloin too!
Friendly. But food is below avg.
