The Psychedelic Shack West

I knowingly spent more money on an Ascent vaporizer from the guys on Navy Blvd, when I could have gotten it online for much, much less. I personally prefer to support local business when possible and enjoy benefits like face-to-face customer service, a store I can drive to if I need help, and getting to deal with the same folks routinely. The whole human interaction thing and all. The guy who sold me the vaporizer was super knowledgable and really helped me out, without his help I would have been lost. HOWEVER, the vaporizer didn't work when I brought it home and plugged it in. It does nothing, brand new out of the box. The guy I spoke to when I called about the store tells me no returns, no exchanges, no exceptions. So what did I pay extra for? The manager called me back right afterwards and says he'll give me a new power cord. Would an online mega store do that? I doubt it. The vaporizer is still under warranty so the manufacturer will repair it, but the new cord may save me weeks or longer of waiting. They made a nice save with their customer service. Totally worth it! Support local businesses like these guys!

Very disappointing experience getting a tattoo at Psychedelic Shack. First thing, they demand payment before you get tattooed. Most places don't do that. Maybe they have done bad tattoos on more than one occasion and that's why (too many disappointed customers running out on the bill). I had a female tattoo artist working with me and I think her name was Linda (this was 1 1/2 years ago). After she started tattooing it became apparent that she was under the influence of something, maybe sampling the other products while working. She fell off her stool but said she was ok. She repeatedly dropped the black ink cup onto the floor (I was getting a black tatt). She really wasn't wiping down the tatt in between inking so my arm was a mess. It was hard to see how the design was turning out. Then she dropped the machine on the floor and was going to continue tattooing without sterilizing it. I stopped her and left the shop. When I got home and cleaned up my arm I saw my design was messed up. I was getting a vampire done in black ink. The mouth would be open and all black inside except for the fangs. She poorly did that and then to make it worse....she covered one fang with black ink. A one fanged vampire....how lovely. *rolls eyes* I did write an email to them telling them what happened and received no response. I tell everyone I talk to not to go to this place and then show them the proof. I have been told by a couple other shops that it cannot be fixed so I have a cover-up scheduled. DO NOT GO HERE!!!! You will regret it!

Long live the shacks!! If you haven't been to one you're missing out.

Great prices on Herbal.

As an employee of this store, I am a bit biased when it comes to my opinions. But I must say, we have it all! Friendly staff, awesome tattoo artists, and amazing piercers! We also have a very, VERY clean and friendly environment! Come in and see for yourself! =]
